Bringing Meaning to Life's Most Difficult Moments
As a Funeral Celebrant located in Santa Rosa, CA, I work with both religious and non-religious families to plan and officiate meaningful funeral services.
Planning a funeral is overwhelming, on top of all the other responsibilities that occur when someone dies. I guide you through this difficult time, and make the process of planning and leading a service less daunting.
We work together to create a service that not only honors your loved one, but also helps you in the grieving process.

Shone Barton
When my father passed away unexpectedly, someone told me that the funeral process can feel very transactional, and to be prepared for that. Reverend Taylor was the exact opposite.
He was caring and patient, and he took the time to let us share stories and learn about my dad. He was organized, walked us through our options, and was flexible with whatever we needed. On the day of the service, he arrived early and was there to offer help and support in any way he could. He even followed up afterward and let us know we could reach out to him anytime.
This is a man who genuinely cares about the families he serves. As a family dealing with the sudden loss of a loved one, we are incredibly grateful that we were paired with him.
For some background, my dad was Protestant, but I am agnostic and do not practice religion. Reverend Taylor offers both religious and non-religious services and is willing to tailor the ceremony in whatever way feels right for the family.
Thank you again, Reverend. You were a pivotal part of helping us through one of the hardest days of our lives and I’m so thankful for you!
FAQs
During my time as an officiate, I often am asked questions about planning a service. Here are a few answers that may help you through the planning process.
Do you work with non-religious families too?
Yes! I have worked with many families that are non-religious. I have many resources, like poems or blessings, that have helped non-religious families plan a meaningful funeral service.
What is the difference between a funeral, memorial service, and celebration of life?
Usually, a Funeral Service has the body or remains present (casket or urn). Funerals are usually held in more formal settings like a church or chapel.
Memorial Services and Celebrations of Life are often held after the person has been laid to rest and can be held in places ranging from a church to a park in the Redwood Forest.
Homily vs. Eulogy?
A Eulogy is usually a speech in praise of and in memory of the person that has died. Often this is written and read by someone close to the deceased.
A Homily is a religious speech or sermon given that reflects on the meaning of life and on the hope that a religious belief provides in the midst of such tragedy.
Do you travel outside of
Santa Rosa, Ca?
Yes, I have officiated services in multiple areas of Sonoma and Marin Counties. If I have to travel outside of Santa Rosa, I do charge an extra fee to cover the travel expenses.
